-SLS Founder Rob Dyrdek and SLS Pros Chaz Ortiz, Manny Santiago, and Shane O’Neill will be on hand to celebrate the grand opening on Oct. 19, 2013.
-SLS Certified course features obstacles inspired by 2013 Street League at X Games event in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.
Throngs of locals and visitors are expected for the highly-anticipated grand opening of the Patrick A. Tinnell Memorial Sports Complex at 100 Park Avenue in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, a part of Lake Havasu City’s 50th Anniversary celebration.
The state-of-the-art course is constructed by California Skateparks and inspired by Street League Skateboarding’s “skate plaza-style” course at the 2013 X Games at Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. This will be Arizona’s largest skatepark at nearly 40,000 square feet, and serve as a safe venue for youth to exercise and socialize.
The site is dedicated to the sacrifice made by fallen soldier Patrick Tinnell, who lost his life in the line of duty in Iraq in April, 2006. This park was his dream for the youth of the Lake Havasu City community.
Additionally, the park will honor the memory of Colin Sasseen, a local skater who tragically lost his life at age 14 doing exactly what he loved: skateboarding.
Both Patrick and Colin will have dedicated features in the sports complex to honor them, including a feature in the shape of U.S. Army SPC Patrick Tinnell’s army helmet.
Join Rob Dyrdek, Chaz Ortiz, Manny Santiago, and Shane O’Neill at 10 am on October 19 for the grand opening. For more information, visit golakehavasu.com and the Tinnell Memorial Sports Complex’s Facebook page.
