Breaking News: Vanessa Torres Is Out, Aori Nishimura Is In

In a tragic turn of events, Vanessa Torres has been sidelined with a torn ACL and will be unable to compete in the SLS Super Crown Women’s competition tomorrow. Vanessa sustained this injury while working on her part for the Quit Your Day Job video. She had this to say about this unfortunate occurrence:
“I suffered a full ACL tear filming for the Quit Your Day Job video, but am thrilled to announce that I completed a full part that I am damn proud of, and can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
Vanessa will still be a part of the SLS Women’s event. She will be joining on-camera as an announcer this weekend. As someone who made the podium in 2015, she has an intimate understanding of what it takes to get to the top 3.
With Vanessa unable to compete, Aori Nishimura will be skating in her place in the Women’s competition this weekend. Aori is a 15-year-old ripper from Tokyo, Japan. She skates for Deathwish, Shake Junt, Oakley, and Murasaki Sports. Aori placed 8th in the X Games Women’s Street contest in Austin, TX this years. And she placed 2nd in the X Games Women’s Street Qualifiers in Seattle, WA this year as well. If you’re unfamiliar with Aori’s skating, have a look at her run from this year’s X Games in Austin for an idea of what she’s capable of on a professional course.
It will be interesting to see what, if any, impact this surprise turn of events will have on the results of the Women’s SLS Super Crown competition tomorrow. Tune in live at 5:20 PM PT / 8:20 PM ET right here on streetleague.com.
