If you needed another reason to visit the oasis that is Lake Havasu, a new, free, public skatepark right on the shoreline is now open for shredding.
Big thanks to everyone who turned up for the ribbon-cutting on the new Street League Cerfified Skate Plaza at the Patrick A. Tinnell Memorial Sports Complex. Ronnie Creager, Brian “Slash” Hansen, Ryan Reyes, Jagger Eaton, Paul Hart, Joey Brezinski and more joined SLS Pros Shane “Best of 2013″ O’Neill, Chaz “Steez” Ortiz and “Manny Welds All” Santiago, as well as SLS Founder Rob Dyrdek.
Dedicated to the sacrifice made by soldier Patrick Tinnell, who lost his life in the line of duty in Iraq in April, 2006, this park is the realization of Tinnell’s long-time dream for the youth of the Lake Havasu City community.
Additionally, the park honors the memory of Colin Sasseen, a local skater who tragically lost his life at age 14 doing exactly what he loved: skateboarding.
Both Patrick and Colin have dedicated features to honor them, including an obstacle in the shape of U.S. Army SPC Patrick Tinnell’s army helmet.
Honor their memory, go skate the park!
